Textile Technology
Textile technology is a comprehensive academic curriculum that prepares students for employment in design, development, and manufacturing of goods in a variety of applications such as aerospace, medicine, architecture, automobiles, apparel, sports, and many others in the modern global business climate.
Throughout the Textile technology programme, a basic understanding of fiber materials, science, and techfibreies pertinent to fiber processing is interwoven with product design and development. The curriculum prepares students for product design/development profibres, starting with an understanding of the application and progressing through material selection and applicable technologies.
After receiving an introduction to the fundamentals of fibre science and textile technology, the student develops additional depth and appropriate skills in multiple disciplines in one of three specialty areas of concentration: medical textiles, technical textiles, or textile supply chain operations. Students transferring from other schools or community colleges can pick the general curriculum route, which allows them to pursue a minor or pursue their own interests through suggested electives.
Medical textiles
The Medical Textiles emphasis focuses on the design and manufacturing of cutting-edge textile products and devices for medical purposes. These high-tech textiles are designed for a variety of surgical and interventional procedures, from wound closure sutures to cardiac support devices.
Technical textiles
Design principles, application expertise, and technologies applicable to a wide range of technical textile materials and products are covered in the Technical Textiles specialization. Textiles used in transportation, storage, packaging, vehicle engineering, geotechnical engineering, and other fields are notable examples.
China Textile Supply Operation
The Textile Supply Chain Operations concentration is concerned with the planning, management, and coordination of all activities involved in converting raw materials into finished textile goods.
